ESCAPE JOPLIN

Poster design

A PICTURE CAN TELL A THOUSAND TALES.

We all love movies that are able to immerse us in a thrilling, scary or adventurous story for a couple hours.

The escape rooms at Escape Joplin are no different.  For one hour, players work together in a thrilling real-life game of gadgets, tricks, and riddles while immersed in the story and theme of the room itself.

SCOPE OF WORK:

PRINT DESIGN

THE IDEA.

The idea of this project was to have something that tells a story to further immerse a player into the theme of each room but also acts as a functional tool so that the Escape Joplin staff can display each room’s record escape time and team name.

Drawing inspiration from cinema, we designed and crafted three posters that measure a large size of 24″ x 36″.

Each poster was designed with the Escape Joplin branding in mind, the theme of the room, and images inspired by pop culture.

HIGH ROLLER.

You are a group of card-counting thieves who are on a daring mission of taking the mob’s casino for millions. It’s the last night of your mission and you’re about to leave when a mobster grabs you and takes you to a supply closet. They cuff you to the wall and blindfold you before saying, “You all think you got away with it, but we know what you’ve done. You’ve got one hour before we come back in here with the Boss to take care of you. We will get our money back one way or another!”

ESCAPE IN RECORD TIME.

One of the important features that Escape Joplin wanted to implement was the ability to easily keep track of and display the teams who hold the current record escape time for the individual rooms.

Adding a functional section so that staff can use a dry erase marker or other method and apply directly to the poster itself.

WOLFENSTEIN’S MANOR.

It’s the last night of summer, you and your friends decide to go on an adventure. Someone brings up the urban legend of Watson Von Wolfenstein. The legend states that on the last night of summer at midnight, Wolfenstein turns into a werewolf and no one is safe on his property. You find his manor and as you walk through his courtyard gate you hear loud growls coming from inside. You notice it’s 11 pm and turn around to leave when you realize the gate had locked behind you.

GET YOUR POPCORN READY.

Drawing inspiration from cinema, we designed these posters to feel like real life movie posters to immerse the room players in the overall theme and story of the room.  While waiting, players can read the story of the room, see the record holder’s name and time to beat.

These posters are complete with the Escape Joplin logo as if they are the studio, name of the room like a title of the movie, backstory as well as functional boxes to hold the record holder’s name and escape time.

QUEEN ANNE’S REVENGE.

You and half of your crew have snuck on board the evil Captain Blackbeard’s ship, The Queen Anne’s Revenge, to steal his prized medallion, which is rumored to give him immortality. You all get caught by Blackbeard and locked away. He says he will be back in 60 minutes to make you walk the plank. Luckily for you, your shipmates have snuck on board to rescue you. You must work together to secure your freedom, find Blackbeard’s medallion and get back to your ship.

PICTURE PERFECT.

The next time you visit Escape Joplin, check out each poster in the lobby as you wait.  Try to set the record and get your team name proudly displayed as you become the ultimate escape artists.

Enjoy.
